Costco[1] members should expect to pay $60 for a membership to the retail giant as early as the end of this year, according to an analyst with global financial firm UBS[2].

The expected price for Costco's basic Gold Star Membership will rise $5, up from $55, and the Executive Membership is $120, up from $110, analysts Michael Lasser, wrote in a research note following a meeting with Costco executives that included CFO Richard Galanti.[3][4]

Historically, Costco (Nasdaq: COST) has upped membership prices every five or six years, with the last one in November 2011, Lasser said. He thinks the conditions are in place for the fee increase to come as early as November 2016, but maybe early 2017.
